"A.S.T. - Arthur Satyan Trio"
"Something of the band's style has emerged
from Armenia, where I was playing music, familiar with the music I'm playing
with "A.S.Trio".
Bassist Abboud Saadi and drummer Fouad Afra were among the first
regular musicians at the "Blue Note Cafe", Lebanese musicians who sometimes
passed gun-battles on the way to a gig. They're still there - older, and a
bit wiser.
These days, thankfully, the guns are silent.
Down the years, Abboud and Fouad have recorded with Lebanon's big names
- Fairouz, Marcel Khalife, Ziad Rahbany and latest oud sensation
Charbel
Rouhana. When not playing concerts, Abboud is in great demand as arranger
and composer for TV and radio. Meanwhile, Fouad's high-energy drumming has
taken him into bands ranging from heavy rock to late-night dinner jazz.
As Abboud and Fouad - along with the Beirut jazz scene - have gone
from strength to strength, overseas musicians have come to Lebanon and
stayed.
"Arthur Satyan Trio" was founded in 2001. Even though we've been playing
together for a long time, about 4-5 years, but we've never played as a trio.
"I had an idea of playing fusion - my composed music, which is mainly
"written compositions" with free solo parts, of course. This selection of
musician is the best in Lebanon for playing Blues, Latin, Funk, Fusion and
written arrangements."
Mixture of swing, Latin and modern-jazz rhythms reflects the land where
streets and homes switch from Miles Davis to Joe Zawinul, from Komitas to
Wayne Shorter...and Arthur Satyan.
We've been performing with musicians, such Murali Coryell,
Deborah Davis, Ray Vega, Ed Cherry, etc...
Here are three musicians of different
characters, experience and nationalities who come together in their music. |
